Ubisoft’s Ubi30 celebrations are coming to a close this month, and the final game to be distributed for free for 30 days is Assassin’s Creed 3.

The publisher has been giving away one PC game every month for the latter half of 2016, with gems like Beyond Good and Evil and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time handed over for nothing.

We’d suspected that the final game in the list would be an Assassin’s Creed title; after all, it’s Ubisoft’s biggest franchise. However, the first Assassin’s Creed seemed the more symbolic, likely choice than number three in the series.

AC3 is set during the American Revolution, and although the game is only four years old, it doesn’t seem to have lived long in the collective imagination. Then again, Assassin’s Creedgames are so numerous, we can hardly blame players for not remembering the specifics of each and every one.

The usual rules apply: the giveaway is only on PC and players will need to download Uplay. Once it’s been received, it’s yours for life.

The next instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which is rumoured to take place in ancient Egypt, might not arrive until 2018. Ubisoft has wisely decided to give its stab simulator a well-deserved break.
