ZTE Axon 7 Premium Variant With 6GB of RAM, Force Touch Display Launched in the US

ZTE has launched the Premium variant of its Axon 7 smartphone in the US. The 6GB of RAM/ 128GB inbuilt storage Axon 7 variant sports a Force Touch display unlike the Standard variant, and is now available through the company’s US online store, and is priced at $499.98 (roughly Rs. 34,100). The Standard variant had been launched in the US at $399.98 (roughly Rs. 27,300).

The ZTE Axon 7 was launched in China in May in three variants – Basic, Standard, and Premium. Highlights of the smartphone were its dual front speakers and cameras, Dolby Atmos and HiFi audio support, as well as the Force Touch display – which was only available on the Premium variant.

The Premium variant of the ZTE Axon 7 comes with a 6GB RAM, 128GB of inbuilt storage, and a Force Touch display – all other specifications remain the same as the Standard variant.

The ZTE Axon 7 bears a metal unibody, runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MiFavor UI 4.0 on top, and supports hybrid dual-SIM (Nano + Nano/microSD). The smartphone features a 5.5-inch QHD (25560×1440 pixels) AMOLED Force Touch display with 2.5D curved glass protection. It is powered by the 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) quad-core SoC with Adreno 530 GPU and 6GB RAM. It also bears dedicated AKM4961 and AKM4490 audio chips with 32-bit DAC to power the HiFi audio support.

On the camera front, the ZTE Axon 7 has a 20-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, and OIS+ EIS+ PDAF. It captures 4K video at 30fps, and slow motion is captured at 720p at 240fps/480p at 300fps. The selfie camera is at 8-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture. Onboard, there is 128GB of inbuilt storage, which can be extended via microSD card (up to 128GB).

It packs a 3250mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0. Connectivity options include USB Type-C port, NFC, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac/a/b/g/n (2.4GHz + 5GHz), and 4G LTE. The fingerprint sensor rests at the back of the smartphone.

In September, ZTE also launched the Axon 7 mini with a 5.2-inch full-HD display, and was made available in two RAM/storage bundles – 3GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB of inbuilt storage. Last month, the ZTE Axon 7 Max was separately unveiled in China with a 6-inch full-HD IPS display and 3D viewing support.
